"I only recently started experimenting with colour more. I think lockdown freed me from the pressure of having to make every piece something that I felt comfortable sharing with other people.

I also became freer with my mark making. I didn't feel as compelled to produce a certain likeness or accuracy in terms of subject matter"

"These oil pastels were made after lockdown began to ease and we were able to see friends again. I started taking pictures of the people around me, the sense of identity regained in doing things that felt more normal again.

I wanted these pastels to capture the slight feeling of disappointment amidst excitement and novelty, the simultaneous sense of loss and gain of self not only just as things begin to normalise now, but also in the paradox present in all times of adjustment and change"
